Onions are used in many many different recipes, usually to add flavour right from the start. In my opinion they are one of the most important ingredients along with garlic. Strong tasting, they can be tamed by cooking softening their texture too.
When are onions in season in the UK?
After a little digging around there is actually a season here in the UK. Initially I found sources that implied that the onion is available all year round, but I found a wholesale supplier they disagreed with this information. I'm inclined to sway with the wholesaler because they deal with their products for their work! The season is the same for the red and white onions.
The onion is in season in the UK: January; February; March; April; May; September; October; November; December.
